“The best communicators are not the ones with the largest vocabulary.”
– Aurora Winter
Aurora Winter is the founder of Same Page Publishing, creator of the Spoken Author method, and a former television writer-producer who has authored books on marketing, publishing, and communication. Her book Marketing Fastrack received a Pinnacle Book Achievement Award. In this interview, she discusses the experiences behind the book, the evolution of her professional work, and the ideas that have shaped her approach to helping others communicate their expertise.

Aurora, thank you for joining us today. To begin, could you introduce yourself to our readers, tell us about your professional background, what you do today, and what continues to inspire your work?
I help leaders turn expertise into authority using Hollywood story architecture and strategic media. I began as a screenwriter and television executive producer, then founded Same Page Publishing and created the Spoken Author™ method, which lets busy experts speak their books instead of struggling to write them. What inspires me is the moment a client holds their finished book and realizes their voice matters. That never gets old.
Your latest book explores marketing through personal experience. What inspired you to write it, and what conversations did you hope it would encourage among readers?
“Marketing Fastrack” began as a single one-hour interview. When I was reinventing my business, I realized a short book could be a great way to attract clients. I gave myself just 90 days to pivot. I offered that short book as a lead magnet, and it generated $250,000. Not from book sales, but from the clients it attracted. I shared exactly how to do this so other professionals would stop waiting, and start making a difference and more income with what they already know.
Your career has included work in television, publishing, and entrepreneurship. Looking back, which experiences most influenced the perspective you share in the book?
Two experiences shaped everything. The first was pitching my screenplay at the Banff Television Festival — twenty minutes on stage triggered a bidding war and changed the trajectory of my life. This taught me that the right words, at the right time, to the right people can produce an extraordinary result. The second was taking a business from struggling to thriving by coming up with just 5 words. I like helping others thrive.
Throughout your work, communication plays a central role. How has your understanding of effective communication changed over the years?
Early on, I thought communication was about being articulate. Now I know it is about storytelling. Stories wrap ideas in an emotion. The best communicators are not the ones with the largest vocabulary. They’re the ones who make their audience feel something.
Many readers are interested in translating knowledge into practical action. How did you decide which lessons were most important to include in this book?
I kept only what I had personally tested. This book worked for me to launch a new business, and could help others who want to use it as a template to model. That’s why “Marketing Fastrack” includes the bonus “behind the scenes” information. I wanted readers to be empowered to create their own short yet valuable book. If a lesson was interesting but not usable, I cut it.
Marketing practices continue to evolve alongside technology. How do you approach innovation while keeping communication meaningful and relevant?
I use technology enthusiastically, but with limits. AI transcribes our client interviews, checks for typos, and handles research beautifully. It is a wonderful “power tool.” It does not have your stories, scars, or skin in the game. It is fast … but not wise. Use wisely.
Your work often brings together writing, publishing, and business education. How do these disciplines complement one another in helping people share their expertise?
Writing clarifies your thinking, publishing gives that thinking authority, and business education makes it profitable. Many brilliant people remain invisible because they’re missing one piece. When all three work together, one hour of conversation can become a book, a video series, and a thriving business.
Many professionals come from different industries and life experiences. How can individuals identify strengths that may help them communicate more effectively with their audiences?
Look closely at what you learned the hard way, because your deepest wound is often the key to your greatest gift. I sold yachts, produced films, and rebuilt my life after a devastating loss, and every one of those chapters informs how I help leaders today. Ask yourself what problem you are the answer to, then speak directly to the people who have it.
Your book has received both the BREW Reader’s Choice Award and the BREW Seal of Excellence from The Chrysalis BREW Project. What did these recognitions mean to you, and how do you view the role of reader and editorial recognition in an author’s journey?
BREW always goes above and beyond. Their reviewer read the book so closely that she wrote about the commitment page, the case study, and even the story behind the title — then said the book “cements Winter’s place as a genius entrepreneur but also as a master author,” which absolutely made my day. I love getting a detailed review, because that level of specificity tells readers whether a book is worth their time, and that is the real service. The Reader’s Choice Award tells me the book works in the real world, the Seal of Excellence tells me the craft holds up, and for any writer, that kind of encouragement is fuel.
Over the course of your career, you’ve received recognition for your work. Rather than focusing on individual awards, could you share the milestones or accomplishments that have been most meaningful to you, and explain why they stand out?

Publishing my private diary as From Heartbreak to Happiness stands out, because the most vulnerable thing I ever wrote became a lifeline for heartbroken strangers. So does watching clients cross thresholds they had circled for years — a senior law firm partner who finally began writing the novels he had dreamed of for decades, and a founder who raised eight figures after refining his message. The awards are lovely, but those moments are why I do this.
If you were to write your own bio, what would you say? And as your work evolves, what kind of impact do you hope it has?
I help leaders turn expertise into authority, and I believe most people have a book inside. My hope is that this work outlives me through the books that my clients and I write and the readers those books reach. Books can change lives.
