Denim Dreams: Bestselling Jeans Styles in 2023

“I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant.”

– Yves Saint Laurent

It is true. Not only are jeans spectacular but they are also insanely practical. These days, it is difficult to meet someone who does not own at least one pair of jeans. Be it a preteen or an octogenarian, a business professional or a farmer, everyone has one. People of all genders, classes, and economic backgrounds prefer a nice sturdy and stylish pair of jeans.

Naturally, it is difficult to envision a time when jeans weren’t a reality. In actuality, jeans were invented in 1873 by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss in the United States of America. After dominating the market for quite some years, Wrangler and Lee came to the forefront. Since then, jeans have become an icon for something or the other.

In the early days, the durability and strength of denim made jeans the choice of apparel for the working class. It became synonymous with the Wild West. In the 1940s, jeans were declared an essential commodity. During the Second World War, Americans popularized jeans throughout the rest of the world. By the end of the war, jeans started epitomizing a happy and free lifestyle. This brought them more in demand. By the 1950s jeans shifted from work wear to leisure wear. Style icons like James Dean, Marlon Brando, and Marilyn Monroe brought jeans in vogue. In the 1960s and 1970s, they symbolized rebellion and freedom. Surely yet steadily, jeans became the go-to wear for youths all over the world. Today, denims are a way of life for many.

With the growing popularity of jeans, different styles and cuts were developed. While some styles emerged, others waned. Surprisingly, in 2023, a wide variety of jeans styles have come back into fashion, along with a plethora of new ones.

For you to find the most stylish and comfortable fit, here I am with a list of the bestselling jeans styles this season.

Wide-Legged Jeans

Wide-leg jeans are on the rise now. Denims with wide legs are becoming wider and wider. Add to that some interesting details, and you have yourself a fashion prize. Wide-leg jeans with an unfinished hem can complement anything in your closet. They are not only trendy but also comfortable to wear.

Flares

Flares are all the rage this season. A slight flair in the legs not only lengthens your body but also gives you a chance to show off your stylish boots and sneakers. Flared jeans are not only stylish but also comfortable and breezy.

Cargo Jeans

Cargos are the most utilitarian bottom style. They are not only breezy but also help you carry a lot of things in their myriad pockets. This year, cargo jeans have been all the rage. They give a bold look that does not compromise comfort. Naturally, cargo jeans are super popular this year.

Deconstructed Denim

The world is gradually moving toward a sustainable lifestyle. Naturally, sustainability has become a big thing in the fashion world as well. Jeans are also moving toward the path of sustainability. With brands recycling old pairs, a plethora of patchwork pieces and mixed wash styles have come to the forefront. These not only make you cool in the style department but also environmentally conscious.

Maxi Jean Skirt

To the surprise of many, maxi skirts have overtaken miniskirts and are back on the fashion scene. A jean maxi skirt gives a look that is coolly graceful. The sweeping hemlines elongate the body and bestow you with a regal bearing.  Undoubtedly, Bella Hadid, with Givenchy’s extra-long denim skirt, has played a major role in popularizing the style.

Straight-leg Jeans

Straight-leg jeans give you a stylish and casual look. Paired with sneakers, they give you a sporty vibe. When worn with heels, they complete your everyday work look.  Straight-leg jeans are ideal for those that like something in between skinny jeans and wide-leg jeans.

Skinny Jeans

Like most millennials, skinny jeans have been a staple in my wardrobe since childhood. They are stylish and have a timeless grace. However, some may say that they are not the ideal fit for most body types. Also, some may even find them uncomfortable. This might have pushed the style in the background these last few years. However, skinny jeans have never gone out of style. While selecting a pair of skinny jeans, it is important that you choose one that is right for you. This may take time but the result is worth it. The ideal pair of skinny jeans can give you a silhouette worth envying. This year, unique embellishments like fabric panels, corset-like waist and cut-outs, and elevated slits have made sure that skinny jeans are back in style.

Raw Seam

Jeans with raw seams may seem like an unlikely choice. However, you will be surprised by the look that comes with them. Undone seams, with their unfinished appearance, give an unexpected polish to your look that makes you look breezy yet classy.

Color Pops

Shades of blue, black, white, and grey are the usual colors for jeans. This season, this stereotype is being broken. Jeans in colors like pink and ombre, along with teal and maroon, are slowly coming in vogue. They not only add a pop of color but also gives you a super trendy vibe. Colorful jeans are sure to make you look unique in your group of friends.

Conclusion

It is a fact universally accepted that jeans are a staple in our wardrobes. We only need to find the right fit and style for that cool and classy denim look. Also, we need to ensure that we are up to date with the latest fashion scene. With so many jean styles out there this year, the task can be daunting. Hope that this list helps you narrow down the jeans styles best for you.
