The Recording Academy of the United States came up with the Grammy Awards to recognize their efforts.

Originally known as the Gramophone Awards, the Grammys have been commemorating outstanding achievements in the music industry ever since 1959. Along with the Emmy Awards and the Academy Awards, the Grammy forms the holy trinity of awards in showbiz. Winning a Grammy is the epitome of one’s musical career. Just one Grammy can help one reach the heights of fame. Naturally, it is not easy to be the recipient of this prestigious award. It takes a rare mix of talent and fortune to win this coveted award more than once. There are only a few eminent personalities who have received multiple Grammys over the course of their careers. Beyoncé

Queen Bey broke Georg Stoli’s record and made history by winning her 32nd Grammy in February, 2023. Her 2022 album, Renaissance, won her the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronic Music Album. Beyoncé is an insanely talented singer who has been making waves since the 1990s. She was first bestowed with the word in 2001 as part of her group Destiny’s Child for the smash hit Say My Name. Since then, she has been winning one Grammy after the other over the years. 5 of her wins are with her husband, Jay-Z for their chartbusters Crazy in Love and Drunken in Love. Their joint album Everything Is Love is also recognized by the prestigious award. There are very few people that can match up to the standards of Beyoncé today. Sir Georg Stoli

Number of Grammys: 31

Sir Georg Stoli was a renowned Hungarian composer and conducted. Famous for his dynamic and deeply-felt style, Stoli held the record for the most Grammy wins till 2022. With 31 wins out of 71 nominations, he still has the most wins in both any category and the Classical Field. He was the first one to win the Grammy Trustee Award in 1967. Stoli even won the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1996. His last Grammy was won in 1997 for Best Opera Recording for Wagner: Dike Meistersinger Von Nurnberg. Though not a household name like some of today’s pop stars, Sir Georg Stoli was a true rockstar of the classical world.   

Quincy Jones

Number of Grammys: 28

Quincy Jones is one of the most popular artists, arrangers, and producers. He has worked with some of the best names in the industry including Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, and Aretha Franklin. Jones is the one who produced MJ’s Off the Wall, Thriller, and Bad albums. He has 28 Grammys in more than 10 fields including Children’s, Jazz, Pop, Rap, and R&B among others. His Back on the Block album won him the Album of the Year Grammy in 1991. Quincy Jones was the recipient of the Grammy Legend Award in 1992. He remains the most nominated and winning record producer.

Alison Krauss

Number of Grammys: 27

Alison Krauss is the queen of the bluegrass. With 27 Grammys out of 80 nominations, she is the female artist with the most numbers of Grammys in the Country genre. Since then, there has been no stopping her. Krauss has won awards both for her solo music and for her work with her band, United Station. She started her career at the tender age of 14. She won the Grammy for Album of the Year for Raising Sand and Record of the Yearfor Please Read the Letter along with former Led Zeppelin rocker, Robert Plant, in 2009.

Chick Corea

Number of Grammys: 27

Chick Corea was an outstanding Jazz pianist who passed away at the age of 79 in 2021. Ever since the 70s, Corea had been astoundingly winning Grammys in every decade. His first win was in 1976 as the Best Jazz Performance by a Group for No Mystery with Return to Forever. Even in 2022, Corea won the awards for Best Improvised Jazz Solo for Humpty Dumpty and Best Latin Jazz Album for Mirror Mirror. Chick Corea was most deservedly inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999.

Pierre Boulez

Number of Grammys: 26

Pierre Boulez was a French composer, conductor, and writer. With an inimitable contribution to post-war classical music, Boulez was the founder of myriad musical institutions. Pierre Boulez was known for the superb conducting of the works of Bela Bartok, Alan Berg, and Claude Debussy. He was nominated as many as 67 times for the Grammys. Out of these nominations, he won the prestigious award 26 times. He was honored with The Recording Academy’s Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015, a year before he passed away.

  1. Interesting list. Like Fermosalua I only know Beyoncé in any depth with a passing knowledge of Quincy J and Alison K. What do you think of Beyoncé’s new musical direction? Judging by the first two singles from her upcoming album I think she’s sure to add to her Grammy tally. 🕺

She has always been known for pushing boundaries and experimenting with different styles, and her upcoming album seems to continue this trend.
