TWB: Can you share with us your journey into the world of filmmaking and what inspired you to pursue a career in this industry?

MS: Hi!

First of all, thanks a lot for giving me this opportunity to introduce myself.
Yeah, the journey to filmmaking has been really amazing so far. It provides me with the opportunity to meet many new people with great ideas and stories. And of course, when your work comes on the big screen, it is a beautiful feeling.

I am also a writer and have many ideas to express, and yes, I have written many stories so far, so this passion made me enter this industry and want to experience the same globally as well.

TWB: As a film director and producer, you’ve achieved remarkable success in the Bollywood Film Industry. What do you believe sets your films apart and contributes to their impact?

MS: I always believe in making such kinds of movies that contribute to society with a social message. If any social message can change the negative thought process into a positive one, that would be a great impact, and I would love to continue the same.

TWB: Your involvement in education, particularly through your acting and direction school, is commendable. How do you see the intersection between education and the entertainment industry shaping the future of filmmaking?

MS: Nowadays, lots of youngsters want to indulge in acting, singing, or dancing and want to prove themselves.

Though it’s a very struggling industry, I believe hard work and dedication can make anything happen.

As a filmmaker and educator, we focus on providing proper training to people, no matter their age. After the course is completed, we give them the opportunity to work with us on a film, which makes them confident and, yes, ready to move ahead in this industry for more new projects.

As an educator, it’s a great feeling to be able to provide knowledge to aspiring artists and make their dreams come true.

TWB: Could you tell us more about your initiatives in social activism and how you integrate social messages into your films?

MS: Cinema is not just a word; by doing so, we can send those messages, even those that we would probably not be able to send in society.

I personally believe that making socially meaningful movies helps people understand the intensity of the problem first and also the solution.

Last year, we made a movie by the name of “Bhaiya ji Smile,” and it was based on Aids. Again, a great social message.

This year, we made a movie called “The Last Wish” with a message about respecting our parents and not throwing them into old age homes when they are old.

TWB: In your experience, what role does storytelling play in raising awareness about social issues and fostering positive change?

MS: As per my experience, one of the most important parts of the movie is the storytelling.

The story is the soul of the movie. If we are not able to create that soul into a movie, then I think the purpose of the movie is totally defeated.

So, character involvement in the movie with an understanding of the story is a must.

TWB: As the founder of MS Asian Movies Studio and MS Asian Film Academy, what challenges have you faced in nurturing talent and promoting diversity in the film industry?

MS: As the founder of both companies, the journey has not been easy for me. Starting from scratch without any godfathers in the industry, it was not easy.

But my pure intention to explore my ideas and give opportunities to talented people who have actually desired to do something in life made my path easier, and I am glad to say that so far, I have trained a number of students and made their dreams come true.

TWB: Your recent participation in the Chandigarh Music and Film Festival has garnered attention. Could you share some insights into the festival and the impact it has on aspiring filmmakers?

MS: Nowadays, film festivals are playing a great role in recognising new talent.

Before any movie is released in theaters or over-the-top (OTT), it gives a boost to new directors, artists, and even producers. Recognition and motivation, of course, help and boost talent to explore more ideas and give opportunities to more people.

It was a great experience at the 4th Chandigarh Music and Film Festival 2024, and lots of news concepts were displayed with good direction.

TWB: How do you balance the commercial aspects of filmmaking with your desire to create socially relevant content?

MS: Yes, finding a balance between commercial aspects and socially relevant concepts is not easy sometimes.

But when we have a desire to make something happen, it will happen.

TWB: What advice would you give to aspiring filmmakers who want to make a meaningful impact through their work?

MS: My advice to new filmmakers is not to give up in any situation first. It will be tough, for sure, in the beginning, but eventually it will be fruitful as well. Keep creating and refining yourself. So do what you love with the utmost sincerity.

TWB: Looking ahead, what are your goals and aspirations for the future of your career in the film industry?

MS: My goals for the future are big. My goal is not just to entertain but to evoke emotions and promote thoughts. I would like to expand my network and seek out collaborative projects. I would love to explore Hollywood cinema in the future and Indo-Hollywood movies. ⭐
