  1. It’s pretty mind-blowing that people two centuries ago were admiring the same brands that we do now. That fact about the Birkin bag was super interesting. Some of these pieces are real investments, just like art. It took me back to a Gilmore Girls episode when Rory gets a Birkin bag, and her grandma is jealous.

  2. I did not know that Vacheron was older than Hermes, I’ve always thought Hermes was the oldest of the bunch. While I know the two are different in terms of product offering it’s still an interesting piece of knowledge. Like Coco Chanel, I also love luxury and view it as pieces of art. I know for many people, it seems like snobbery but that view is really derived from the people that wield those pieces in an arrogant manner. I bought my mother gifts from Cartier and Hermes (I still do) and upon examination, they are really well made. Do they share many similarities with their cheaper counterparts? Sure they do. But it’s in the totality of their expression and how willing they are to blend classical and new design themes that sets them apart. Mike
