The inspiration for “Chronicles of the Enchanted Vanguard: Seraphina and the Divine Mandate” stems from a combination of my deep love for fantasy literature and my experiences during my service in the Navy. Serving in the military taught me the value of camaraderie, duty, and sacrifice, which are central themes in the book. Seraphina, the protagonist, embodies the qualities I observed in my fellow servicemen and women: bravery, integrity, and a profound sense of duty including those unsung heroes in the first line (medical unit, delivery personnel, police and fireman) during the pandemic period and nuclear station explosion event. Here, I am grateful and appreciate their unfailing support and extra mile. Thank you to all the First Line heroes for keeping us safe.

Below, soldiers, nearly exhausted from their efforts to protect the panicked civilians, struggled to hold their ground. Tension rose within the aircraft as Seraphina argued with the captain. The captain, focused on their crucial mission, was adamant about not jeopardizing their objective. However, Seraphina’s resolve was unshakable. Her heart ached at the sight of the desperate civilians and the brave but weary soldiers. she declared, her voice firm and unwavering not to watch them suffer, Ignoring the captain’s protests, Seraphina made a bold decision. She leapt from the aircraft, determined to save the people below, her resolve as clear as her mission. This act which I learned from the newspaper about nurses working in the hospital during SARs and the COVID period.

Friendship is a cornerstone of the novel, just as it has been in my life. For instance, in the Navy, friendships are forged in the crucible of shared challenges and unwavering camaraderie. During a tense deployment, our ship’s exhaust system malfunctioned, threatening the mission’s success. Despite fatigue and pressure, my fellow servicemen rallied around me. Together, we labored tirelessly, grease-streaked and determined, to fix the exhaust trunking. Each wrench turn echoed our shared commitment to one another and the mission. In those moments, trust deepened, mutual support flourished, and bonds were cemented in the crucible of adversity. This experience exemplified the profound strength and resilience of Navy friendships, enduring long after the exhaust smoke dissipated. These relationships often become a source of strength and resilience. In the story, Seraphina’s friendships play a crucial role in her journey, highlighting the importance of unity and the power of standing together in the face of adversity. In my point of view, “True friends are those you can rely on no matter what. The ones that walk into the wilderness to locate you and return you home. And true friends never have to remind you that they are your friends.”

My military service taught me the true meaning of bravery—it’s not the absence of fear but the will to push through it for a greater cause. This idea is embodied in Seraphina’s character as she confronts various challenges and dangers. Sacrifice is an integral part of military life and is portrayed vividly in the novel. This act of sacrifice not only strengthened our bond but also underscored the unwavering commitment to each other’s well-being that defines military brotherhood.

For instance, I saw a pool of oil spill in the sea and stained our ship while the fish have covered with the black crude oil. In my thinking, the fish will dead of no oxygen as the gill is cover with oil stain. This experience fueled my desire to write a story that not only entertains but also inspires hope and action. Seraphina’s journey is a beacon of hope, showing that even in the darkest times, there is potential for renewal and restoration if we work together and remain committed to positive change.

LG: In my novel, the battle between light and darkness mirrors the complexities of human nature. I balance these opposing forces by depicting characters and scenarios that reflect my journey through depression and loss. When I was at my lowest, having lost my marriage, business, job, and social friends, I found myself engulfed in darkness. This period was marked by the betrayal of so-called friends, who turned their backs on me when I needed them most, becoming villains in my life.

However, I transformed my negative thoughts into positive ones, gradually walking out of depression. It started when I found a message on a YouTube channel that lifted my spirits. It said something like: “Absence of thoughts opens the heart and mind, let the obstacle clear itself as it is nothingness.” From then on, I meditated, prayed, listened to peaceful music, and wrote a book to alter my negative thoughts. This transformation is central to my narrative, illustrating that light can emerge from the darkest of times. By portraying characters who struggle with and overcome their inner demons, I aim to show readers that resilience and hope can triumph over adversity.

The message I hope readers take away is that even in the face of profound betrayal and despair, it is possible to find strength within oneself and rise above the darkness. True friends and inner light will eventually prevail, guiding one toward healing and new beginnings.

I wanted to explore the themes of light and darkness, reflecting my journey through depression and the betrayal of close friends. This foundation gave the story a raw authenticity that resonated with the complexities of human nature.
2. Character Development: Creating characters was a cathartic process. Seraphina, the protagonist, embodies resilience and the capacity to find light in the darkest of times, mirroring my path to recovery.
